FAQs

Peripheral Arterial Disease is a disorder that affects the arteries outside of the heart and brain. According to the American Heart Association, controllable risk factors for PAD include cigarette smoking, obesity, diabetes mellitus, physical inactivity, high blood cholesterol, and high blood pressure.

Some insurance companies do cover treatment. Our in-office insurance coordinator will verify your insurance coverage, on your behalf, prior to your treatment.

Examine your access daily to ensure there is a thrill and keep the site clean. Wash skin daily with soap and water. Avoid sleeping on your access arm, carrying heavy objects and checking blood pressure in your access arm.

Keep the site clean and dry. Dressing changes will be done at dialysis center. Plan on transitioning to a fistula or a graft as soon as possible.

Same or next day appointments are available.

No. We will give you sedation to ensure that you are comfortable throughout your procedure. Please be sure not to eat or drink anything on the day of your procedure so that we can administer sedation.

Depending on the type of procedure, patients generally recover within 30 minutes-2 hours and are able to be discharged.

PAE, which can be performed under light anesthesia, involves a treatment called embolization, which entails temporarily blocking blood flow to the arteries that supply the prostate.

Minimally invasive, image guided procedures involve the treatment of medical conditions that once required open surgery. By harnessing the power of advanced imaging (ultrasound, X-rays, CAT scans, MRI scans and other innovative methods), we can see inside your body and treat complex conditions—even cardiovascular disease and cancer—less invasively and with unprecedented precision. We can reduce the length of hospital stays, minimize potential complications and save lives.

A part of getting older means that there are certain health concerns that you will have to take into consideration. For men, one of the main issues is the enlargement of their prostate. This condition is called BPH, or Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. Typically a man’s prostate envelops part of his urethra, which is the organ that carries urine and semen out of a man’s penis. Men with BPH, however, have an enlarged prostate, which squeezes the urethra. This, in turn, decreases the flow of urine. BPH is common in older men, and there are several ways to treat it. Men with BPH have an increased chance of getting prostate cancer.

Prostate Artery Embolization or PAE is a procedure in which a microcatheter is placed from the femoral artery (top of the leg) to the arteries of the prostate. Small spheres are inserted into the prostate artery through the microcatheter to block it. It is an “Outpatient Procedure” performed under ‘twilight sleep’ without the need for anesthesia. It is a painless procedure and done in approximately 1 hour.

Uterine Fibroid Embolization or UFE is a procedure in which a microcatheter is placed either from an artery in the groin or wrist to the arteries of the uterus. Small spheres are injected into the uterine arteries to block the blood flow. The fibroids will shrink and reabsorb over time. While fibroids do not always cause symptoms, their size and location can lead to problems for some women, including pain and heavy bleeding.

Kidney functionality is imperative to your health. The main functions of the kidney are to remove or extract waste and fluid and form urine. End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) is the final stage of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). When CKD develops into ESRD, it is imperative for the patient to seek treatments such as dialysis or a kidney transplant. From the surgical creation of dialysis access to minimally invasive procedures to help maintain a healthy access, our expert staff aims to navigate you through your journey as we work closely with your nephrologists/dialysis centers.
