Jennifer Ames, FNP-C
Jennifer Ames is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner at the Vascular Institute of Virginia. She started her career in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area after obtaining her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing through Chamberlain University.
In her career as a registered nurse, Jennifer specialized in Critical Care at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. She worked in all aspects of intensive care, including Medical-Surgical, Neurosurgical, and Cardiac Intensive Care Units. Jennifer, then, pursued her passion and became a Certified Trauma Intensive Care Registered Nurse. She obtained roles as a preceptor, circulator nurse throughout all specialties, and charge nurse. After working in Critical Care, Jennifer decided to specialize in Interventional Radiology at the Vascular Institute of Virginia. At the Vascular Institute of Virginia, Jennifer managed the care of patients in pre-, intra-, and post-operative settings and precepted new-hire registered nurses. Her experience has helped her gain the ability to provide effective patient care, assist in the diagnosis and management in acute and chronic conditions, and create a positive work environment that greatly impacts patients and staff.
Jennifer decided to pursue a graduate degree at Chamberlain University while working full time as a registered nurse at the Vascular Institute of Virginia. She graduated in 2020 with a Master’s of Science in Nursing and completed the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. Jennifer is an active member in Sigma Theta Tau Honor’s Society of Nursing, American Nurses Association, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and Treasurer of Chamberlain University’s Alumni Association.
